A pathway built around you

The equipment is only part of the journey.

Learning to use a different control can feel like a big change. We break training into manageable steps, helping you become familiar with your setup and build practical driving skills at your own pace.

Whether you are learning for the first time or returning to driving, we work with you and your referring professionals to understand the recommended training pathway.

Your abilities and professional recommendations guide the equipment and training—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Steering aids & spinner knobs

A steering aid provides an alternative grip on the steering wheel. Different designs may include a rounded spinner, a vertical grip or a palm-style grip.

Training focuses on becoming familiar with the recommended aid and coordinating steering with the other vehicle controls.

Hand-operated acceleration & braking

Hand controls offer an alternative way to operate acceleration and braking. The configuration depends on the equipment and the driver's assessed needs.

Training starts with understanding the fitted system, then develops smooth control and coordination in suitable driving environments.

Secondary control systems

Adapted switches and steering-mounted control systems can make functions such as indicators and wipers easier to reach.

We discuss the recommended configuration and equipment availability before arranging training.

Left-foot accelerator & pedal adaptations

A left-foot accelerator or other pedal adaptation may form part of a professionally recommended driving setup.

Learning a different pedal arrangement requires individual instruction. Contact us to discuss the recommendation and confirm a suitable training vehicle.

Images show examples of adaptive equipment. Suitability, vehicle compatibility and availability need to be confirmed for each person before training is booked.

Do I need to know which equipment I need?
No. You can contact us before you know the equipment names. Tell us about your goals and any advice you have already received so we can discuss the next step.
Do you work with OT Driver Assessors?
Yes. We work with OT Driver Assessors and referring professionals to support practical training aligned with their recommendations, sharing relevant updates where authorised.
Can I use my own modified vehicle?
Please discuss your vehicle and fitted equipment with us first. We need to confirm whether the setup is suitable for the planned training before making a booking.

This service focuses on driver training with adaptive equipment. If modifications are needed, discuss assessment and installation with your OT Driver Assessor and a suitable vehicle modification provider.
